DIGNATION SMP RULES Updated and current at 17/08/2024

General Rules:

Respect All Players: Treat others with kindness and respect. No bullying, harassment, or discrimination. *If you're told a member's preferred pronouns, please use them. We are adamantly LGBTQ+ friendly and have a significant queer, trans and non-binary player base; we will maintain a safe space and have no tolerance for homophobia or transphobia.*

No Griefing: Do not destroy or modify another player's builds without permission.

No Stealing: Do not take items from other players without their explicit consent.

Keep Chat Clean: No offensive language, spamming, or inappropriate content in chat.

No Hacking or Cheating: Any form of hacking, cheating, or using mods that give unfair advantages is strictly prohibited.

Respect Admins and Moderators: Follow the instructions of server staff and do not argue with their decisions.

Gameplay Rules:

PvP with Consent: Player vs. Player combat is allowed only if both parties agree.

Preserve the Environment: Avoid unnecessary destruction of the environment. Replant trees and be mindful of communal resources. *In communal areas such as the Shopping District (SD) respect the unique terrain, and build in ways that do not excessively alter the area.*


No Unauthorised Modifications: Do not install or use client-side mods that alter gameplay without approval.

Claim Land Responsibly: Claim land fairly and clearly and do not obstruct other players’ areas or resources. 

Use Common Sense: If something seems like it might be against the spirit of fair play or community enjoyment, it probably is.

Building Rules:

Respect Building Boundaries: Do not build too close to other players without permission. *Negotiate distances between builds with your nearest neighbours especially in spaces like the Shopping District.*

No Offensive Builds: Do not create structures that are offensive or inappropriate. *This includes political builds or anything with controversial intent.*

Maintain Community Areas: Keep communal areas tidy and contribute to their maintenance and improvement. *There are plans for the beautification and expansion of the SD, so consult with admin and other players before making any large changes in the area.*

No Lag-Inducing Builds: Avoid creating redstone contraptions or other builds that could significantly lag the server.

Event Rules:

Follow Event Guidelines: Adhere to specific rules set for server events.

Good Sportsmanship: Maintain a positive attitude and support fellow players during events.

Consequences:

Warnings: Minor infractions will result in a warning.

Temporary Ban: Repeated or severe infractions may result in a temporary ban.

Permanent Ban: Continuous or severe misconduct will lead to a permanent ban from the server.

Community Guidelines:

Encourage New Players: Help new players learn the ropes and integrate into the community.

Participate Actively: Join in community projects, events, and discussions.

Report Issues: Report any issues or rule violations to server staff promptly.

Rules Relating to Specific Server Areas or Mechanics:

Shopping District (SD) We have chosen the unique terrain of spawn to be our Shopping District. We would like to preserve and beautify this unusual terrain generation with aesthetic, well considered infrastructure and shop builds.

• Shops are limited to 2 per person at this stage, and should be themed around a particular product or group of products. Attempting to sell literally everything is strongly discouraged. (This doesn't exclude player to player trading outside of the SD, you can sell whatever you like on a P2P level, but not everything requires a shop! Shopless trades can be advertised in the trading forum in Discord)

• Competition is allowed, within the confines of the regulation above. E.g. food items could be sold in multiple places, say if two players wish to build for example a cafe and a bakery. However, remember that the primary value of the community is KINDNESS and competition should be friendly and light hearted.

• When choosing a place for a shop, work with the terrain and consider digging into hillsides etc without removing excessive visible land. Many suggested shop plots will be provided as the SD is further developed and expanded; if you wish to use an area outside of these plots consult with an admin to ensure it doesn't conflict with another plan.

The Nether

• If you are based within 300 blocks of spawn please use the spawn nether portal to access the nether roof OR the portal on Carly's megabase island located at (x, y, z) if you wish to have easier access to the lower levels of the nether.

• Your main base portal and any farm portals should be linked to the nether roof. If you base close to another player, consider sharing a portal. If you require help linking your portal an admin will be happy to assist. Note: Bedrock players are also able to use the nether roof!

• Please break and remove any misplaced, temporary or unnecessary nether portals to avoid issues with linking to other portals.

Villager Trading

• You may have a reasonable number of villagers at your base for trading, and it is ok to limit or ban access to only those traders necessary for stocking your shops.

• Librarian trades must be made available to all players. You do not need to supply the books or emeralds for said trades, but you must permit other players to use your librarian villagers to access enchanted books. You can make trade arrangements only if both players are amenable, eg for convenience.

• Allow access to emerald-earning villagers such as farmers and fletchers on request to allow players to gain emeralds for book trades.

The End

• There is an Enderman XP Farm available for community use. If any issues arise with this farm, advise admin immediately.

• Respawning the dragon is permitted for achievements or to open further end gateways. Inviting others on these adventures is encouraged!

• Signpost looted End Cities in some obvious way such as a large cobble pillar to save others wasting their time.

Looting/Raiding of Significant Structures

• Limit raiding and/or destruction of structures to one or two per individual. If you wish to raid further, invite others to join you. We want the community to have equal access to gameplay experiences like raiding Woodland Mansions, Ocean Monuments, Ancient Cities etc and there are only a finite number inside the current world border.
